What is PlayNook?

PlayNook is an interactive audio platform where stories come alive through sound. We create AudioGames—immersive, voice-guided adventures you can play with your voice, ears and imagination. Imagine if audiobooks and video games had a baby.

How do AudioGames work?

Each AudioGame is a branching story guided by voice and sound. You’ll listen, make choices, and roll the dice to shape what happens next. Stories where you’re the main character.

How can I play?

You can enjoy PlayNook however you like—on your own or with others.
Here’s how to jump in:

Do I need an internet connection?

Nope! PlayNook now supports offline mode. You can download AudioGames and play anywhere—on a plane, in the forest, or just offline for some focus time.

How does the dice roll work?

Some moments require a bit of chance! Just like in tabletop RPGs, you might be asked to roll a virtual die (D20) to determine your fate. You can tap to roll, or even say “Roll the dice!” if voice commands are enabled.

What are Karma, Gold, and Health?

• 🔮 Karma tracks your moral choices and can change story outcomes:

• 💰 Gold is your in-game currency—use it to unlock paths, bribe guards, or trade for gear;

• ❤️ Health reflects your status—lose it all and you might hit a dead-end... unless you’ve reached a checkpoint!

What happens if I lose?

Not every ending is a happy one—but don’t worry. We’ve got checkpoints 💎 so you can retry from key moments. Some paths lead to dead-ends, others to glorious victory. Discover them all!

Is there a leaderboard?

Yes! For competitive adventurers, we track your score based on choices, dice rolls, items collected, and final outcome. Climb the leaderboard and prove you’re the best storyteller (or the luckiest rogue!).

Can I use voice commands?

Yes! With supported devices, you can:

• Make choices by saying “Option one”, “Go left”, or “Attack the dragon”;

• Dice rolls: just say “Roll the dice!”.

Is PlayNook free?

PlayNook mobile app is FREE.

The first AudioGame in every season is free to play. After that, you can unlock new episodes and content via in-app purchases—just $0.99 per game.

What are the different play modes?

PlayNook offers three play modes, so you can choose the experience that fits you best:

• 🎧 Text & Audio (Full Experience)
  This is the recommended mode: immersive audio, voice acting, soundscapes, and on-screen text. The best of both worlds—listen and read as you play.

• 📝 Only Text
  A silent mode with no audio. Perfect if you’re in a quiet place, want to save battery, or prefer reading. All narration and choices are displayed as text.

• ℹ️ Accessibility Mode
  Designed for enhanced accessibility:

  • Describes all interactions and transitions

  • Includes additional voice prompts

  • Optimized for users who rely on screen readers or need extra clarity in navigation
