Audio Stories for Commuters and Road Trips

An AudioGame fits a commute better than most games, because it only needs your ears and a few seconds of attention at each choice. You can play on a train, a bus or a plane, download stories to play offline and pick a length that matches your trip.

Match the story to your trip

Every story in the PlayNook catalog shows its length before you start. Here is how we would pick:

Ten minutes or less: a quick ride

  • Karma Man (about 4 min). The unluckiest superhero in town tries to break a curse.
  • Back to the Origin (about 9 min). Two hundred genetically selected people are sent 66 million years into the past to restart humanity.
  • The Last Chance (about 10 min). Family problems, doubts about the future and yet another breakup. A romantic comedy with a lactose-intolerant hero.

Ten to twenty minutes: an average commute

  • The Holy-cide (about 11 min). A chandelier falls during Easter week in a Spanish village. Private investigator Javier Velasco knows it was no accident.
  • The Deadly Draw (about 15 min, 16+). Trapped underground, each prisoner gets a Tarot card with a secret bonus and a weakness.
  • Offside Life (about 17 min). A boy from a favela in Belo Horizonte dreams of making it through football.

A long trip: stories in chapters

  • After the Light (5 chapters, about 52 min, 16+). The end of the world, a cure almost ready and a lab under siege.
  • Fairytale Guardian (4 chapters, about 52 min). The fairy tales are mixing and the villains are winning.
  • Marco Polo Adventures (6 chapters, about 2h 30min). Venice to the court of Kublai Khan, one chapter per stop.

How to play on the move

  • Download before you leave. Stories work offline, so tunnels and planes are not a problem.
  • Use Auto progress. The story moves on by itself between choices, so you only act when it matters.
  • Answer with your voice if your hands are busy, by turning on Use microphone in the settings.
  • Stop anytime. Chapters are short, and you pick up where you left.

In the car

Connect the phone to the car via Bluetooth and play with everyone in the car: passengers say the choice out loud and one person taps. If you are driving, let a passenger handle the phone and keep your attention on the road.

Quick answers

Do AudioGames use a lot of data?

If you download stories on Wi-Fi before leaving, you can play without using mobile data.

What if I miss a choice?

Standard choices wait for you. Timed choices do not, which is part of the fun: if the clock runs out, the story picks for you.
